Zindagi Safar

We fold whole years of ourselves into songs, and most of us never notice we are doing it.

One song belongs to the summer we turned twelve, another to a first heartbreak, and another to the long drive home after a goodbye we weren't ready for, and each one keeps a little of who we were at the time.

Then, years later, one of them spills out of a passing rickshaw or a radio in someone else's kitchen, and for three minutes we are fifteen again, remembering who we were waiting for and everything we never found a way to say.

Zindagi Safar is an evening made of those songs, one that Locl and Cassette 50s have been building together. We'll travel back through the years, starting with the music that filled the houses we grew up in, then the songs we played too loud as teenagers, and finally the ones we would want to pass on. Every song opens a letter, and while some of those letters are written to people we loved or lost or never quite got over, others are written to the people we used to be.

We think most of us learn to sing what we feel long before we learn how to say it.

So this is a night for listening back, for meeting old feelings with a little more understanding, and maybe for being a little kinder to whoever we were when we first sang along.
