This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on Eventlers, why we use them and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember you between pages, for example that you are signed in. Websites can also store information in your browser in other ways, such as session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.
2. Cookies we use
We only use cookies that the site needs to work. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics cookies to track you across other websites.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| sid | Keeps you signed in and links your requests to your account. | Until you sign out, or after a period of inactivity |
| user_id, full_name, user_image, system_user | Show your name and picture in the site header and decide which menus you see. | Same as sid |
| Sign-in and security cookies | Protect forms and sign-in, including when you sign in with Google, Facebook or LinkedIn. | Your visit, or a few minutes |
3. Browser storage
While you book tickets, we keep your progress (selected tickets and the step you are on) in your browser's session storage, so a page refresh does not lose your booking. It is cleared when you close the tab and is never used for tracking.
4. Third-party cookies
Some pages include services from other companies, which may set their own cookies under their own policies:
- Google Maps shows the venue map on event pages.
- YouTube plays videos that organizers add to their event pages.
- Google, Facebook and LinkedIn set cookies on their own sites when you choose to sign in with them.
- PayFast sets cookies on its own payment page when you pay by card.
We do not control these cookies. Please see each company's privacy and cookie policies for details.
5. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies we use, you will not be able to sign in, book tickets or see your passes in My tickets, but you can still browse events.
6. Changes to this policy
If we start using new kinds of cookies, for example to measure how the site is used, we will update this page before we do.
